Carcross/Tagish First Nation Points of Interest

There is so much to see and experience in the land of the Carcross/Tagish First Nation, it can be hard to fit it all into one visit. With the help of our friends at Indigenous Yukon, we’ve put together a list of must-see and must-do attractions:
Tséi Zhéłe / Sinwaa Éex’i Yé (Conrad)
Tséi Zhéłe / Sinwaa Éex’i Yé /Conrad is a historic site preserved and managed in the nation’s Final Agreement. Located on the west-side of Windy ArmTséi Zhéłe Méne (Howling Rock Lake), it is a traditional harvesting place used by ancestors of the Carcross/Tagish people.

Carcross Commons
Self-determination shines through in the brightly painted Carcross Commons retail village that brings visitors to the community. Culture is lived and shared in the Carving Shed that is part of the Commons. Empowerment infuses the Tiny Homes project that teaches life and carpentry skills to Citizens.

Nares Lake and the Four Sacred Mountains
Nares Lake is of special importance to Carcross/Tagish People, whose rights for this area are protected in the Final Agreements. Grab your camera and prepare for splendour, whatever the season.
Taagish Too’e/Taagish Héeni (Tagish River) Habitat Protection Area
The Tagish River (Taagish Too’e/Taagish Héeni) Habitat Protection Area was established as a Special Management Area in the Nation’s Final Agreement. It is a small but important part of the Yukon River system between Marsh Lake and Tagish Lake and an area to catch site of swans, geese, ducks and many other waterfowl.
